Goodbye to Bevel-Emboss

I wanted to take a moment to say goodbye to the Bevel-Emboss fans. The true idea behind Bevel-Emboss was to be a celebration to the design community. When the idea first came into place, I really found an asset in trying to create a new atmosphere that would welcome any enthusiast, at any level. I have to admit that in my career I have paid so much respect to specific names in the industry and that early on, I was very intimidated to even say hello or speak my mind to some of them. Creating an atmosphere that would encourage communication and demolish the "self brand" intimidation that some may have shared with myself was something I found to be special. Whether or not you saw Bevel-Emboss that way, I truly hope everyone felt stronger after leaving. Designers are usually stereotyped and pushed aside from the rest of the business world. In our community, there can be a lot of competition, but we really need to start embracing the fact that we are one, and as cliche as it sounds, with a united effort we will be able to make large changes to the world we live in.

From the bottom of my heart, it was truly something special to see a room full of people who all shared common interests. You no longer needed to feel nerdy, different, artsy, or weird. You could be you, and that's all that really mattered. Once again, I feel honored that any amount of people showed up to not only a party, but what should be seen as a group effort towards possible change in our industry and world. Thank you so much.
